Do you have the Joy of the Lord?
Are you continually circling back to him for meaning, for purpose, for comfort?
The word for joy is a Gimel, Yad, and a Lamed.
The Gimel(or Gam) means to gather together as a group of animals gathering at the watering hole to drink. It has the connotation to walk, to go or carry/gather.
The Yad is the letter meaning work, make or throw. The functions are of the form of the hand.
The Lamed (or Lam) is the picture of the shepherds staff. It is used for direction or to represent authority. The sign of the leader of the flock.
So Joy is the combination of all three.
One meaning could be to go (gimel) do the work (yad) of Authority(lamed)?
Maybe.
Either way, Today you should evaluate your life.
Pray and ask the Lord where you are seeking joy and contentedness from other people and things.
It is not fair to your friends and family to base your joy on their actions. It is not fair to God to base your joy and contentedness on objects or desires. This is idolatry and selfish in nature.
Where do you need to shore up your foundation?
Deal with the log in your own eye before worrying about the speck in your brother's eye.
Focus on the Work of the Lord. Focus on his will being done, not yours.
Pray and seek the Joy of the Lord.
Messiah say's he gave it to us in fullness.
