Matthew 8:1-17
1 When He came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him. 2 And a man with tzara’at came to Him and bowed down before Him, saying, “Master, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
3 Yeshua stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing. Be cleansed.” Immediately his tzara’at was cleansed. 4 And Yeshua said to him, “See that you tell no one; but go show yourself to the kohen and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
5 Now when Yeshua came into Capernaum, a centurion came begging for help. 6 “Master,” he said, “my servant is lying at home paralyzed, horribly tormented.”
7 Yeshua said to him, “I’ll come and heal him.”
8 But the centurion said, “Master, I’m not worthy to have You come under my roof. But just say the word and my servant will be healed. 9 For I also am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I say to this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.”
10 Now when Yeshua heard this, He marveled and said to those who were following, “Amen, I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith! 11 Moreover, I tell you that many will come from the east and the west, and they will recline at table with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the sons of the kingdom will be driven out into the outer darkness; in that place will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13 Then Yeshua said to the centurion, “Go. As you have believed, let it be done for you.” And the servant was healed in that same hour.
14 And when Yeshua came into Peter’s house, He saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying down, sick with a fever. 15 Yeshua touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she got up and began to take care of Him.
16 When evening came, the people brought to Him many who were afflicted by demons. He forced out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. 17 So was fulfilled what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
“He Himself took our sicknesses
and carried away our diseases.”
Your mouth carries the ability to change the atmosphere.
Do you use it to bring forth life in ALL circumstances? Or do you curse the ground before you and others by being obedient to the accuser?
Jesus forced out all the spirits with a word.
Do you do the same to the lies of the enemy that swirl around us? Do you call out the lies of the enemy and supplant them with truth from the Most High?
When we do not speak out life to combat the lies of the enemy, we allow those lies to produce fruit and multiply until death comes at scale.
James 3
1 Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers and sisters, since you know that we will receive a stricter judgment. 2 For we all stumble in many ways. If someone does not stumble in speech, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well. 3 And if we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we guide their whole body as well. 4 See also the ships—though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. 5 So also the tongue is a small member—yet it boasts of great things.[a] See how so small a fire sets a blaze so great a forest! 6 And the tongue is a fire.[b] The tongue is a world of evil placed among our body parts. It pollutes the whole body and sets on fire the course of life—and is set on fire by Gehenna.
7 For every species of beasts and birds, reptiles and sea creatures, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. 8 But no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. [c] 9 With it we bless our Adonai and Father, and with it we curse people, who are made in the image of God. [d] 10 From the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, these things should not be. 11 A spring doesn’t pour out fresh and bitter water from the same opening, does it? 12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree produce olives, or a vine produce figs? Neither can salt water produce fresh water.
13 Who among you is wise and understanding? By his good conduct let him show his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil practice. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, not hypocritical. 18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in shalom by those who make shalom.[e]
There is a deep call for all who claim to follow the Lord to submit, humble ourselves and allow him to give us the words to speak.
There is death at scale. There is pain at scale. There is anger at scale.
And we can take these things captive and supplant the things of the enemy with truth from God.
Speak life and praise Adonai all the days of your life.
Walk in the way of the Father and allow his spirit to pour out of your mouth -- Changing the world around you. Literally.
Today, Repent for walking as agents of the enemy by abiding in death. Either with our mouths or with our own complacency, we are guilty at some point. (if you aren't guilty of this.....well.... Good luck?)
Repent and ask Abba to break the curses that we have set forth with our own mouths.
Pray and ask Abba to fill us with his spirit so that we may abide in love. To speak forth Truth and praise Adonai all the days of our life.
