We do not FEAR Yahweh in the righteous and Holy way that he SHOULD be feared.
Not in the sense of FEAR as in pulling away out of being afraid of malicious will or harm.
Rather FEAR in the sense of giving him the weight and glory of our respect/reverence.
Truly being in AWE of his majesty.
Being TERRIFIED of being separated from him.
Matthew 27
45 Now from the sixth hour, darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour. [k] 46 About the ninth hour Yeshua cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?”[l] that is, “My God, My God, why have You abandoned Me?”
Have you EVER been so close to God that when his spirit draws away, you actually cry out?
I haven’t. Do you respect his presence and show him the right amount of Awe when he draws near?
I go from “glory” to “Glory” and say “That was nice” when it is "over". Then I just go back to my normal life. Energized for a time and right back into my filth and terrible habits. Nothing Changes because of me.
Thinking I can enter his throne room whenever I want and that he will always wait on my every need. (I.E Wants.)
NOTHING is sacred any more to me. Not even the time of closeness with the Father.
With OUR KING.
Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Psalm 25: 11-15
For your name's sake, O Lord, pardon my guilt, for it is great.
12 Who is the man who fears the Lord? Him will he instruct in the way that he should choose.
13 His soul shall abide in well-being, and his offspring shall inherit the land.
14 The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.
15 My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for he will pluck my feet out of the net.
We lean into the “Abba, Father” aspect of Yahweh’s character but we throw out the “King of Kings”, the “Aleph and the Tov”, the “Lord of Lords” part of his character.
The Ancient of Days does not truly hold our respect or we would live completely different lives.
We can say the right things but the truth is shown in our actions. The way in which we interact with God, the way we walk out of daily lives, and the way in which we treat each other makes it abundantly clear that we have no idea who God is, who others are and who we are.
Proverbs 2:3-5
Yes, if you cry out for discernment,
And lift up your voice for understanding,
If you seek her as silver,
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
Then you will understand the fear of the LORD,
And find the knowledge of God.
Let's do a bit of a mental exercise. Bear with me.
Do you fear God enough that you would go up the mountain to sacrifice your First born son PROMISED BY GOD to you? Would you trust him and want to please him enough to go forth with faith and belief?
Truly search your heart and be honest with yourself.
Likely not. I know I wouldn’t. At least not now in my current state.
Psalm 34:9
Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints!
There is no want to those who fear Him.
Do you Fear leaving Yahweh’s presence enough to not go into the promised land? Would you stay in the desert if it meant staying with Abba? Does your King command enough of your respect that you would give up everything to be with him? All of the land that is flowing with milk and honey that was promised to you? Is he enough?
2 Corinthians 7:1
Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
We fear man and lack of provision more than we fear Yahweh.
We fear man and lack of provision more than we fear Yahweh.
We fear man and lack of provision more than we fear Yahweh.
Read those again.
If we TRULY understand the position of the KING OF KINGS then why do we fear man?
Why do we strive to get more and more and more?
The King of the Universe, Yahweh, loves you so much that he continually thinks about you.
He knows the number of hairs on your head.
He knows each and every chromosome and how you were knit in your mother’s womb.
To Him is all power, honor and glory.
Literally nothing else has power over you if you would submit to him.
When you submit to him, believe in his Son Yeshua, the enemy loses all righteous claim on your life due to the sacrifice made on your behalf.
And he has given you all power to go forth and bring people into his kingdom.
So then what to do? Simple.
Deuteronomy 10:12-22
12 “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,
13 and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good?
14 Behold, to the Lord your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it.
15 Yet the Lord set his heart in love on your fathers and chose their offspring after them, you above all peoples, as you are this day.
16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn.
17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe.
18 He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing. 19 Love the sojourner, therefore, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.
20 You shall fear the Lord your God. You shall serve him and hold fast to him, and by his name you shall swear.
21 He is your praise. He is your God, who has done for you these great and terrifying things that your eyes have seen.
22 Your fathers went down to Egypt seventy persons, and now the Lord your God has made you as numerous as the stars of heaven.
Put Yahweh in his rightful place as the King of your Heart.
Not just in word, but in spirit and truth.
Then start to understand (through wisdom) Who you are and, more importantly, who others are in his eyes.
In the words of our Messiah himself:
Luke 12: 4-7
4 “I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do.
5 But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him!
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God.
7 Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.
Two different words of fear used here. Not fearing for provision like the birds who are fed continually.
But Fear the Lord and give reverence to his authority.
Revere Yahweh with the appropriate reverence(fear) and life will flow abundantly because nothing can stand against him who reigns from Heaven for ever and ever.
Amen.
“You will serve whom you fear. If you fear Yahweh, you’ll obey Yahweh. If you fear man, you’ll ultimately obey man’s desires. If you seek to obey others’ desires, you can no longer be a true servant of Yeshua, Jesus the Christ.” - John Bevere
Finally, Let us learn to pray as Yeshua intended.
9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread,
12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Give God honor and glory, and only then can you come into the wisdom of what it means to be his Son and more importantly his bride.
He loves you but you need to honor him as his bride.
Repent and give him honor and glory. Not asking for anything but just remembering all of the wondrous things he has done for us out of love. Let us be in Awe of his majesty.
