1 Kings 19:11-13
11 Then He said, “Come out and stand on the mount before Adonai.” Behold, Adonai was passing by—a great and mighty wind was tearing at the mountains and shattering cliffs before Adonai. But Adonai was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but Adonai was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake a fire, but Adonai was not in the fire. After the fire there was a soft whisper of a voice. 13 As soon as Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle, went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. Then all of a sudden, a voice addressed him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
How often are we calling for God to come down in power and glory. To change the situation in the physical and be made known, only to miss his still small voice.
Are you listening?
And he said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
Everyone has ears, people. But are you using your ears to listen? or do you only hear what you want to hear?
Do you sit in silence before the Lord to hear his still small voice?
What is competing with hearing from God? Music, movies, our own thoughts, seeking out things from others.
Be completely Honest with yourself right now.
How often do you sit in silence, no thoughts or desires or wants and just sit in the presence of the Lord?
Do you not hear from God? Are you calling out wanting to hear from him?
Then shut out the cacophony of noise you surround yourself with, numbing the pain of sin.
Stop medicating your pain by seeking the comfort of things outside of YHVH.
Why is he not enough?
Is he enough to soothe your pain?
Is he enough to hear your anger and frustrations?
Is he enough to bring comfort to your life?
And don't delude yourself with the churchy answer.
Be HONEST with yourself.
IS. HE. ENOUGH. FOR. YOU?
....
If yes, then why do you not seek him out every opportunity?
To run to him in all things and stay in his presence constantly?
...
If no (like me), stop believing the lie and giving your pain and hurts power over you.
Abandon the ways of the world and Let him be enough.
And he said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
This week, be silent.
Like in 1st Samuel 3:10
Then Adonai came and stood and called as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for Your servant is listening.”
Ask the Lord the Speak to you, and be silent before him.
What are the things that God is doing in your realm of influence?
How can you be apart of it? How can you make yourself available to what YHVH is doing?
Are you his instrument or is he yours?
